Derek Kellogg is a former college basketball player and coach. He was born on August 1, 1973, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Kellogg played college basketball at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he was a point guard for the Minutemen from 1991 to 1995.
After his playing career, Kellogg began coaching, serving as an assistant coach at George Mason University, Youngstown State University, and the University of Memphis before becoming the head coach at UMass in 2008. He coached the Minutemen for nine seasons, compiling a record of 155-137 and leading the team to one NCAA Tournament appearance in 2014.
Kellogg later went on to serve as an assistant coach at LIU Brooklyn and as the head coach at LIU Post before being named the head coach at LCCC in 2019.
Kellogg is known for his up-tempo style of play and his ability to develop talent on the court. He is also highly respected for his recruiting abilities and his passion for the game of basketball.
